A "panda" animal is a variant of a common animal that differs from the ordinary animal by being black and white and deadly.

In cases where the normal variety of the animal is generally black and white, panda varieties can usually be distinguished by behavior, in that they exhibit exceptional ferocity.

There are many types of animals that have panda varieties, but many more that do not. It is unknown what characteristics of an animal allow for a panda version to exist.

The most well-known panda animal is the panda bear; it is such an archetypical panda that often people simply call it a "panda" rather than a panda bear. Technically this is incorrect, as there are panda whales, panda horses, panda tigers, etc., as well as panda bears, but in general if one says just "panda" it is understood that they are referring to panda bears.
