Ze Yīkong (the Extraordinary Promise of the Duke of Wulun) frequently went sportfishing at the Fei Cai River, but he would angle in an outlandish way. He hung a trabeate hook, with no bait, two feet above the water. He time and time again said to himself, "Fish, if you are resolved to perish, arise and gulp down the lure by yourself." This is the origin of the phrase, “to fish like Ze”.
