On the bank of a wide river, a woman brushed her hair.
Then came a minstrel, who saw her sitting there.
Into love fell the minstrel, and begged her hand so fair.
"I'll be yours forever after, if you do this task for me.
Take this box across the river; your woman I will be."
He took the box and crossed, and was by bandits torn.
Nevermore shall the minstrel walk that river shore.
