Armor

In general, Armor adds to your Resistance stat. However, heavy armor is difficult to wear for those not used to it; twice the resistance of the armor is subtracted from your skill, for any non-Reserve rolls you make while wearing it.

A shtick in wearing armor (Power 2, Frequency 6) will let a character buy Armor skill (cost 2 for a specific Type of armor, cost 3 for a subset (leather, metal, etc.), cost 4 for all armor); each point of skill counters one point of the armor's penalty.

So, for 5-resistance armor, 10 levels of Armor skill are required to wear it without penalty.

Most forms of armor are unacceptable in social settings. The higher the armor def, the more likely it is to provide minuses to social reactions from people other than soldiers, etc (though this can be ameliorated by status).

The spiffier the armor, the more time it takes to make; you will have to commission your great armor well in advance, rather than buy in the marketplace. The cost for armor of defense N is in the rough ballpark of 10*N^3 in zhu. Well-crafted or decorated armor will tend to be pricier (the higher end of any given armor's range is likely to be in this category); used, rusty, and blood-stained armor will tend to be cheaper.

Standard types of armor include the following. (Non-standard armor, you will have to discover for yourselves.)
