Talk:Shen Wei Han

I'm a little concerned that I may be biased too far away from interaction, and too far toward combat.

Shen Wei Han is, to some extent, supposed to be socially awkward. His reaction is to be quiet and watch for things which might go wrong. Social climbing isn't for soldiers, it's for their superiors.

But given that, I'd take suggestions. --Ringrose 01:30, 21 February 2009 (EST)

Are you saying that you're concerned that Wei Han doesn't have people interactions skills, or that you're concerned that Wei Han doesn't want to be around people? I don't think it's a matter for concern if he's not good at it, but I do think it's a matter for concern if he doesn't want to be in the party. --Eon

Well, one way of driving character growth towards more personal interaction, if you're concerned, is to come up with one or more interactions that he *does* want to have - someone he admires for some reason, or someone he wants to persuade of something. (Love plots are a good example of this, but aren't by any means the only ones.) If he finds that being silent isn't achieving his goal there, he might have to push himself to be more communicative. --Boojum 17:42, 22 February 2009 (EST)

You're right. I can develop more social skills when I see more of what's going on, I guess. And I'll find a reason to talk if I need to. --Ringrose 01:11, 23 February 2009 (EST)

After having gotten a nice set of stats and powers which all totaled 100, apparently wearing armor is now frequency 6 and it totals 102. Fortunately, the nice GM has said I can start to points in the hole, as a reward for having a character done early. --Shen Wei Han 14:17, 27 February 2009 (EST)

Updated background. The way it worked out, before being on the wall he spent a lot of time walking Imperial Highways around the Twelve Kingdoms. --Shen Wei Han 00:58, 1 March 2009 (EST)

Added crossbow skill. Chinese infantry did that historically (although they tended not to be so thooughly armored) --Shen Wei Han 02:03, 5 March 2009 (EST)

Heck, I believe that there were even special soldiers who were armed with crude firearms (more fireworks really, but still really impressive to opposing forces if you've never seen such things and even fireworks can be dangerous); not clear if the GM's believe that's available to PC's at the moment, however. -Derrick

There are fireworks, but no use of fireworks as weapons yet. --Boojum 09:20, 7 March 2009 (EST)

Hm. I wonder if I'm going to regret not having taken any dodge. I mean, with 5 DR that's the equivalent of nearly two dodge dice turned into successes for a x3 weapon. But I wonder.--Shen Wei Han 18:11, 30 March 2009 (EDT)

(and yes, I actually have 12 DR, but 7 of that is without regard to skills)
